Classic 5-panel pima/silk twill
The classic five-panel cap has become a wardrobe staple for many. For this version, based on Polo’s cap, my intention was to elevate that familiar silhouette by working with an exclusive blend of Pima cotton and silk, dyed in natural indigo.
The fabric carries a slightly dry, almost crunchy hand at first. With wear, the cap gradually shapes itself to use. Sun, wind, and rain give the fabric character, building a rich patina as the cap becomes noticeably softer over time.
The indigo is set with a mordant during the dyeing process, binding the pigment to the fibre so the colour holds without bleeding or transferring, even in heavier weather. What you will see over time is a slow, natural fade rather than any running of the dye, the way indigo is meant to age.
At the back, the standard closure is replaced with a strap of full-grain cow leather from a respected tannery. Paired with a solid metal buckle, it is a detail designed to look better with age.
